GHETTO YABLOWA: SQUAD(CASTRO, NOEL MAL, MYK, PAYNO) THROW JABS AT LEGENDARY RADIO DJS & IMAGENATION
Chilobwe based clique called Squad have thrown shots at legendary Dj, Joy Nathu and Imagination duo, Ababa Surgeant and J Mike in their latest single “Awo”.
The song starts with a verse from dancehall artist Castro who throws jabs at Ababa Surgeant in a sarcastic manner stating that the “Mahopu” famed artist likes his music “olo ababa eeehh nde amafila”. He then continues to respond to Surgeant’s label mate J Mike who said “popanda patois castro sangathe kuimba dancehall” as he proves him wrong by toasting in Chichewa going on to rub salt in an open wound by saying he is transilating dancehall like Akila, meaning to say J Mike doesn’t understand English.
The third verse was done by MYK who targeted legendary Dj, Joy Nathu who is the host of popular radio show, Made On Monday. The rapper who is also a former member of a group that fell on the rise “BlackMailerZ” in his verse says he has had enough so he made it on monday, meaning to say he is tired of being in the shadows so he made it on monday on his own without the endorsement of Nathu’s show. He goes on to ask Joy if he like the song and tell him that it’s time people listen to others(radio shows), meaning to signify that Nathu’s time for dominating airwaves has come to an abrupt end.
The second and forth verses have little controversy in them as Noel Mal and Payno’s sights were set on settling personal scores. But to hand it to them, their verses were as interesting as the others as their delivery was on point baring testimony that the ghetto has exceptional talent.
